I thought id do this just to see if our bad luck with captains goes back longer than the last few (not vice captains)

2011-12 : Robin van Persie (Wants to leave)
2008-11 : Cesc Fabregas (Demanded to leave and fucked off to Barcelona)
2006-08 : William Gallas (Not sure what the fuck was going on here)
2005-06 : Thierry Henry (Demanded to leave and fucked off to Barcelona)
2002-05 : Patrick Vieira (Demanded to leave and fucked off to Juventus)
1988-02 : Tony Adams (Stayed until his last day as a player then retired)
1980-88 : Kenny Sansom (Sold to Newcastle Utd)
1973-80 : Pat Rice (No longer wanted so went to Watford then came back as a coach)
1964-73 : Frank McLintock (No longer wanted so went to QPR)

McLintock wasn't made captain until 1968.
McNab was captain after McLintock, then Ball before Rice.
O'Leary was captain after Rice, followed by Rix before Sansom.

Well, under the captaincy of Eddie Hapgood, all that Arsenal won was 1 league title. Arsenal had another captain between 1932 and 1937. That is 3 league titles and an FA Cup win and he doesn't get a mention!

ah, a man of taste then, great site with articles that every Arsenal fan should read

ive just bought his book, only a few pages in but love it, just need a warm day and ill be out in the convertible in a field and reading away all day

i would love to see Tony (or any of the other 2 blokes who co-wrote the book) books collection as i bet all 3 have a massive collection, ive just almost finished my rothmans football yearbook collection from 1 to 40 im now only missing no.1 & my arsenal handbook's as ive got 40 ish of them now & probably 50+ arsenal books & another 50+ books on footy

my first season getting into football was 1984/85 (i was 13) and my first going season was 1986/87 so before that ive had to read what i know as ive been to 406 games (mostly arsenal)
