I'll debate this from a continental view.English fans know their football very well but also are inpatient and tend to dismantle everything that's not over £50 gazzilion coconuts

31st Aug 2011 : Per Mertesacker - SV Werder Bremen (Germany) - £8,000,000 *This is debatable No pace that's a issue for EPL but if I'm not wrong Bundesliga is even crazier regarding pace and strength.I think is holding on and we suffered lasst year when he was injured. And you can't deny his passion to do good"

31st Aug 2011 : André Santos - Fenerbahce Istanbul (Turkey) - £6,200,000. "Never seen him as a LB some one tricked him to think he is a defender"

30th Aug 2011 : Chu-Young Park - AS Monaco (France) - £1,800,000 How many chances he had?
11th Jul 2011 : Gervinho - OSC Lille (France) - £10,500,000 Yes the dredded Gervinho topic. He might off missed sitters but to consider him shit is a bit rich. What? He won Ligue 1 and suddenly he is not a footballer.I think he has morale issues and I'll go even higher psychological as hisnfamily is still in France.I still rate him highly but in a "let's eat him alive" world of fans and tabloids he is not going to do well.I'll bet you any money if he goes to any other league he will be brillian.Any MONEY

26th Aug 2010 : Sebastien Squillaci - Sevilla (Spain) - £3,300,000 (awful)

2nd Feb 2009 : Andrey Arshavin - Zenit St. Petersburg (Russia) - £16,800,000 *Not Andrey's fault Not his fault?Really?Coming from that part of the world I know exactly how he thinks and you'll see this at most of the Russian/Romanian players.Have a good season, impress see that you're in the spotlight then stop giving a fuck till the contract ends.Examples: Pavvlychneko at Spers,Mutu(if he didn't had the drug scandal),Berbatov (I'll see him next year at Fullham doing fuck all.Not his fault

20th Aug 2008 : Mikaël Silvestre - Manchester Utd - £275,000 We've been bumfucked by Fergie

30th Jul 2008 : Amaury Bischoff - Werder Bremen (Germany) - £250,000 who?

3rd Jul 2007 : Havard Nordtveit - FK Haugesund (Norway) - £2,000,000

31st Aug 2006 : Denilson - São Paulo (Brazil) - £3,400,000

27th Jan 2004 : José Antonio Reyes - Seville (Spain) - £10,500,000 *Debatable as his long yearning for his mummy

1st Jul 2003 : Philippe Senderos - Servette (Switzerland) - £500,000
11th Jul 2002 : Pascal Cygan - Lille (France) - £2,100,000
19th Sep 2001 : Efstathios Tavlaridis - GS Iraklis Saloniki (Greece) - £600,000
5th Jul 2001 : Richard Wright - Ipswich Town - £6,000,000
1st Jul 2001 : Paulo Roberto Nagamura - São Paulo (Brazil) - £450,000
19th Jun 2001 : Giovanni van Bronckhorst - Rangers (Scotland) - £8,500,000 *Not his fault
14th Jun 2001 : Francis Jeffers - Everton - £8,000,000

Very good points

Im a massive fan of German football and have supported Dortmund since the very early 1990's

Ive always wanted 4 Germans at Arsenal, Mertesacker, Podolski, Schweinsteiger & Metzelder (For the last decade) and i have plenty of time for Per & Lukas but Per needs to be left to defend but have back up from Kos or Verm but they far too often leave him alone and then he gets done on pace, he has as you know 100+ caps for Germany and you dont get that unless your a very good player

Santos once scored 17 goals in a season in Brazil (i think) and no left back does that, the bloke is a left side midfielder not a left back and Wenger has just done his usual buy a player who plays in one position then played him in another

Park was a T-shirt signing and thats all he was, he played in 1 game v man utd which was beamed all over the world, its a money making deal much like Inamoto

Gervinho is the wrong player playing in the wrong team and being used as a scape goat much like Eboue was, Gervinho in his early days this season with us were quite good and at one point he had 5 in 5, ive been watching the French league since the 80's and remember him playing for Lille with Hazard and he was very good

Arshavin, so your saying it was going to go wrong no matter what? You make a good point about his fellow country men failing in the UK but i think that if Wenger would have played him in the Bergkamp hole for the entire time he was here he would have been a legend, you dont score 4 goals v Liverpool if your shit

Silvestre was dog shit then and is dogshit now for Portland TImbers

Sometimes, just somemtimes, I'm worried that our basic trainnings are complacent and not focusing on each player's needs to develop.Injuries yeah we're the best bring us a dead horse we'll turn it around into an alive cat!

As a twitter guy once said we might have Hummels but he is going to turn average after a couple of games. We are getting read by the opposition so fast these days.
